The future of racing is with the youth of today
“Our children are our greatest treasure. They are our future”. The wise words of the great Nelson Mandela. And how right he was. Without eager eyed, kind, inspired, determined and loving children, where are we left? Obviously, Mr Mandela’s sentiments from many years ago relate to the broader world and humanity, but they mean a lot in racing too. For

Melbourne Cup Carnival - A World of Difference
Yesterday I found myself telling a middle-aged Melburnian male about how, at Royal Ascot at end of the day, we all gather around the bandstand waving Union Jack flags and singing songs. Safe to say he looked at me like I had two heads and made a mental note to scrub Ascot off the top off his bucket list! Before I completely lose any chance of ambassadorial duties for Her Royal Majesty’s race meeting I need to try and redeem myself. Thousands

My day at the track
So, you’ve booked in your trip to the track over the Spring. How exciting! If you’ve never been before, you’re in for a real treat. If you’re a seasoned pro, you know the drill, but I thought I’d let you in on how I do a race day, from start to finish. And yes, it’s a big day! If I’m racing on a weekday, like Melbourne Cup, my day will begin with the glorious sounds of my alarm screeching at 3.45am.

Where to watch the action on track!

Not how to magically pick the long- priced winner of the sixth (I wish I had such a super power), but where to take in all the action on the track because vantage point is key! Believe it or not, my father Lee, very rarely watches racing ‘IRL’.

The Difference between Stayers and Sprinters
For the raceday novice, there's a bunch of different terms that can be difficult to understand. One of the most commonly misunderstood is the difference between stayers and sprinters when it comes to racehorses. Check out our infographic below to learn how the two differ, as well as some interesting facts around the most well known Aussie stayers and sprinters!

Beginner's guide to picking a winner
When I was a boarder in my last few years at high school my morning ritual was a little different to the rest of the students. I would get up early, go for a big run or head to team sport training, shower and get into my school uniform, and then head to the boarders’ dining room where I would sit and read the paper. Not from front to back, but from back to front.

Millinery Tips and Tricks
Millinery is an all-important part of a raceday outfit and if I’m being brutally honest, I think this can often be a woman’s downfall when piecing together an ensemble. Perhaps it becomes an afterthought after tackling the task of finding the right dress or top – that can be exhausting! Or maybe there’s some apprehension about what works, because let’s face it, it’s not every day we pop on a crown (even though we are all Queens!).

Weather Appropriate Attire with Dom Bagnato
Melbourne is notorious for its unpredictable weather conditions. So how does one look their best on the track this Spring racing season despite the potential of four seasons in one day? Simply by planning for the occasion and executing with confidence. After fashion trends and iconic figures, the weather truly influences the type of clothing people wear. Depending on the weather we wear garments to keep us warm or cool through the year.
